Father's Day Gift #2 Coonawarra Red
Father’s day is just around the corner and if you haven’t started searching for the perfect gift for dad, it’s best you get a move on. Over the next few days, we’ll be sharing some of our favourite gift ideas that will surely make dad’s day with gifts for budgets big and small.
Gift idea #2: Riddoch Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot
If dad can’t get enough of his red wine look no further than this drop produced in on the best Cabernet Sauvignon regions in the world… Coonawarra of course! Reflecting the essence of the region, on the palate notes of chocolate and dark fruit shine through with a well-balanced tannin structure. On the nose, aromas of earthy plum, black cherry, mulberry and fine oak delight the senses. If this doesn’t mean much to you, I found this wine incredibly easy to drink and pairs nicely with fatty meats such as beef and dishes like spaghetti bolognese, lasagne and my personal favourite, pepperoni pizza.
Fun Fact: The winery has a great little story which ties in with Father’s Day nicely. Visionary pioneer John Riddoch set out in 1891 in search of gold but instead unearthed an even more illustrious gift from the Coonawarra region; soil perfectly suited to producing some of the world’s greatest red wines. Cutting a heroic figure with a thick moustache and finely combed hair, Riddoch’s discovery spun him on a legendary path to now be recognised as the founding father of Australian wine. From one father to another this Father’s day I say!
