Autumn: Scents for Gents this Season
Autumn is finally upon us, and that chill has undoubtedly arrived! Gents now is the perfect time to switch out some of those fresh fragrances in your collection and replace them with scents boasting hints of spice and warm woody notes. Here are four scents to check out this season:
Givenchy Gentleman Eau De Parfum This year Givenchy delivers a more intense reinterpretation of its iconic 70s scents Gentleman, which is charismatic and charming. Gentleman EDP bursts with the fierce floral note of Iris Pallida and earthy patchouli essence, before adding a dose of heat with Black Pepper. At its base is black vanilla which gives the scent warmth and longevity and gives this scent its captivating signature. While this scent has been created with evening wear in mind, I wear it both day and night and slightly more dressed up occasions. Givenchy Gentleman Eau De Parfum 100ml RRP 147 AUD.
Yves Saint Laurent Cologne Bleue Eau De Toilette If spice isn’t for you, then a good compromise is the latest scent by YSL, Cologne Bleue. While this scent bursts with refreshing citrus notes such as blood orange, grapefruit, mandarin and bergamot, it’s heart consists of oriental accords of geranium, thyme and lavender which give this scent a lingering warmth. Its base notes also feature a nice kick of black pepper and cardamom making this scent wearable during the colder months. Cologne Bleue is casual, modern and works best for wear during a sunny autumn day. Yves Saint Laurent Cologne Bleue Eau De Toilette 100ml RRP 149 AUD.
Mont Blanc Legend Night The latest edition of Legend is said to be a play on light and shadow, and it seems to be the best way to describe its juice. The scent is sweet and almost fresh, but as you continue to smell it, you get a beautiful warmth delivered from the spicy accords. Legend Night consists of aromatics such as clary sage, peppermint and cardamom, and to add a warm elegance, woody notes of cedar and floral lavender have been blended with violet. At its base a combination of woods and spices have been used to give this scent it’s longevity and distinctive character. Notes include vetiver and timber patchouli, musk and velvety black vanilla. What I enjoy about this scent its intensity, wearability and originality. Be sure to check it out when you’re next at the fragrance counter. Mont Blanc Legend Night Eau de Parfum 100ml RRP 115 AUD
Michael Kors Extreme Speed The latest scent by Michael Kors is destined to turn a few heads this season. This sleek and stylish fragrance combines coriander and spices with warm woods and classic patchouli to create a modern and dynamic scent for the man of today. Extreme Speed blew me away with its innovative use of notes and complexity - it is nothing like any of the other fragrances in the collection. Wear it day and night in autumn and during the day in winter. A versatile scent which can be dressed up or down and worth a sniff during your next visit to the fragrance counter. Michael Kors Extreme Speed 120ml RRP 125 AUD. Available in Australia from 20 May 2018.
