A Glasshouse Christmas has Arrived
It’s time to get excited about the festive season with Christmas Day just under a month away. One of my favourite moments of the festive season is when Glasshouse Fragrances unveils its annual Christmas Collection. Over the years the pleasant scents have become a tradition in my home in the lead up to Christmas which bring back fond memories of decorating the Christmas tree, social occasions spent with family and friends and of course my two Frenchies Marcel & Celine.
This year Glasshouse Fragrances has released three festive blends which evoke the magic of Christmas but for a hot Australian summer.
Night Before Christmas: Dancing Sugar Plums This fragrance is my personal favourite and can’t image Christmas or summer without it. Inspired by plum puddings, Grandma’s treats and festive fruits, Night Before Christmas combines Blackcurrant, Plum, Lemon and Lavender to remind you of everything that’s magic about Christmas.
Notes Top: Blackcurrant, Red Currant Middle: Plum, Lemon, Lavender, Rose Base: Musk, Oak Moss, Spice
Classified as a floral scent, Night before Christmas provides the perfect balance of freshness with hints of spice. I find the fruits really shine through in this fragrance which makes it a delightful scent for summer. Considered a full-bodied aroma, I like to burn this candle in my living/dining room which is a more significant space allowing the fragrance to linger nicely. Burn it day or night when you’re entertaining or relaxing at home watching your favourite festive flick. The candle is housed in an opulent gold jar and packaged in a metallic red and gold box.
Night Before Christmas Triple Scented Candle 350g $46.95 and 700g $99.95. Also available in 250ml Fragrance diffuser $44.95.
White Christmas: Cedar Leaf & Fruity Clove This fragrance is what I would consider a more traditional Christmas scent which has been adapted for the Australian climate. Evoking memories of snow-covered rooftops and Santa-inspired snowmen, White Christmas combines Cedar Leaf, Fruity Clove, Eucalyptus and Pine to add a cold climate feel to festive celebrations.
Top: Fresh Aldehydes, Greens, Orange Middle: Eucalyptus, Oak Moss, Fir Balsam, Plum, Lemon, Lavender, Rose Base: Cedar Wood, Pine, Amber and Musk
Glasshouse Fragrances categories this scent as woody which it is, but it also has the perfect balance of spice and fruits which make it well suited for summer. Also considered a full-bodied fragrance, White Christmas is ideal for burning in large/medium sized rooms. The candle is housed in a silver jar featuring the 2017 Glasshouse print.
Under the Mistletoe: Spiced Apple & Red Berries Think Christmas in Europe with mulled wine, an open fire and snow as far as the eye can see! This delightful scent has been created to celebrate the season of togetherness and features a festive blend of Cinnamon, Apple and Berries.
Notes: Top: Orange, Mandarin Middle: Apple, Red Berries, Cinnamon, Clove Bud Base: Vanilla, Sweet Caramel
Categories as a Gourmand scent, it smells like a warm Christmas dessert. Once again the ideal fragrance a balanced has been achieved to create a warm scent which still manages to pair nicely with the summer season. Under the Mistletoe is also considered a full-bodied scent which works well in larger spaces. The candle is housed in almost a rose gold coloured jar, and the box combines metallic blue with hints of gold.
