The Zen of Kyoto by Glasshouse Fragrances

Mr Neo Luxe reviews Glasshouse Fragrances Kyoto Camelia & Lotus candle, handed creme and diffuser

Japan’s city of Kyoto is at the top of travellers lists for many reasons including its traditional Buddhist temples, flourishing gardens, imperial palaces and traditional wooden houses. Apart from its picturesque beauty, the city is very spiritual and has a peaceful and zen-like energy which is said to be magical. While most of us would like a little ‘Kyoto’ in our lives daily, moving to Japan may not be on the cards. Adding to its collection of exotic cities, Glasshouse Fragrances has created an oriental scent for this magnificent city which will arouse the senses and fill your home with a Zen-like aura.

Taking inspiration from the ancient Zen Temple of The Golden Pavilion and its magnificent strolling garden, the Kyoto fragrance blends notes of Camelia, Lotus and warm Amber to create a sophisticated and relaxing scent for your home.

Kyoto Camelia & Lotus Fragrance

Top notes: Fresh Lime, Bergamot and Citrus.

Middle notes: Camellia and Lotus.

Base notes: Amber, Sandalwood, Musk and Vanilla.

The Kyoto collection consists of Glasshouse Fragrances signature triple scented candle, hand wash, hand crème and fragrance diffuser. I decided to try a few products out in this collection as the brand's candles are among my favourite but have never really had much exposure to the other products int he range. Here’s what I thought:

Kyoto Camellia & Lotus Triple Scented Candle

This candle has all the hallmarks I love about Glasshouse candles. The fragrance is considered full strength and easily fills my home with this stunning scent. I’m burning the mini-candle and found it took a little longer for the fragrance to travel when compared to the larger candles but that’s to be expected because of the single wick. My partner is quite sensitive to stronger scents but loves this one – it’s strong but not overpowering or headache worthy. Like all Glasshouse Fragrances candles, this product is handmade in Australia, triple scented, made using quality non-toxic wax, and lead-free cotton wicks. Kyoto Camellia & Lotus Triple Scented Candle 350g $42.95/60g $18.95

Kyoto Camellia & Lotus Fragrance Diffuser

Diffusers are a low maintenance and reliable option to keep your home smelling delightful for up to 3 months. The Kyoto fragrance is strong enough to fill a larger space without being overbearing. The scent travels from my living room to my front door and surprises my guests from the moment they walk in. The fragrance has an elegant refreshing/floral aroma which is inviting – exactly what I want to smell when I walk through the door after a long day. Kyoto Camellia & Lotus Fragrance Diffuser 250ml $42.95

Kyoto Camellia & Lotus Hand Crème

I’ve never tried a Glasshouse Fragrances Hand Crème so I was super excited to try this product. This decadent hand crème is lightly scented with the Kyoto fragrance and melts into the skin absorbing quickly. Hands feel soft without the unwanted greasy feeling. The luxurious cream is formulated with Shea Butter, Argan oil and Macadamia oil to nourish the skin, while Rose Hip oil leaves hands silky smooth. I get dry hands in winter and found this product kept my hands moisturised and looking younger. Kyoto Camellia & Lotus Hand Crème 125ml $24.95.

Kyoto Camellia & Lotus candle, hand crème and diffuser are available online from the Glasshouse Fragrances website, David Jones department stores, Peter Alexander, and selected boutiques nationally.
