Review: Michael Kors Sexy Blossom
When you think of flowers, what’s the first bloom that comes to mind when you think luxury? If you guessed orchid, you’re not alone. This trendy and exotic plant which is native to South East Asia has been in vogue for a few years now. You can’t watch an episode of ‘Real Housewives of anything’ without seeing an orchid in the background or going to a wedding which hasn't been styled using a combination or artificial and living orchid blooms.
With such attention on this sophisticated flower, Michael Kors has released a limited edition scent containing a Pink Orchid note paying homage to this exotic and luxurious plant.
Fragrance Name: Michael Kors Sexy Blossom
Notes: Lychee, Rose petals, dewy leaves, Pink Peony, Orchid Accord, Muguet, Freesia, Ambrox, Musk and Sandalwood
Described as: Enchanting, flirtatious and romantic. The fragrance blends sweet fruity notes with beautiful florals such as rose petals to create a refreshing and provocative scent. The dry down combines woody notes to create a delicate warmth and a lasting impression on the skin. Pink Orchid has been incorporated into the fragrance to compliment the floral accords and gives the scent its tropical feel.
Wear it: Sexy Blossom is well suited to the warmer months along with humid days in autumn. The scent combines refreshing and fruity notes making it incredibly versatile and can be worn on warm humid days (like you would experience in Asia during the wet season). I would recommend wearing this scent during the day either to the office or a casual social setting such as brunch or coffee date.
Price: Michael Kors Sexy Blossom Limited Edition 100ml EDP $145. Available from selected Myer, David Jones and Sephora stores from 26 March 2017.
The verdict: There’s very little room for error when releasing a fruity floral fragrance and Michael Kors does this exceptionally well with each scent in its collection. Sexy Blossom is feminine and youthful without being overpowering or offensive. Is this fragrance likely to disrupt the world of fragrance? Probably not as it follows what I call a ‘safe’ formula and plays on women’s love of floral accords. Sexy Blossom is a pleasant and charming fragrance and I have no doubt will sell exceptionally well once released.
